8086 memory space was: The Soul of Barb's New Machine 1166 Ahh, the 8080 and 8086 were never intended as general purpose computer systems. They were originally marketed to EEs to replace boards full of random logic. Don't blame Intel or Microsoft because... the default was called "autolog1" .... near the end of the boot procedure would call to the autolog command processor ... pbutting the command "autolog autolog1". It was expected that the installation would have installed scripts for autolog1 service machine to perform various operating system startup functions .... including issuing autolog commands for other service virtual machines. Later the process was modified to have AUTOLOG1 and STARTER0. from long ago and far away ... email concerning somebody doing cleanup work on various privileges settings ... Directory changes strikes again!!!!! ---- The 'C=' privileges have been removed from STARTER0. making it unable to run its AUTORUN exec 8086 memory space was: The Soul of Barb's New Machine 1165 back in the 1970's, i helped out a guy who had two floppy disk TRS80's in his office. they came with this single... ---- AUTOLOG1 and STARTER0 share R-W the same 191 disk, depending on how the system is brought up, either AUTOLOG1 or STARTER0 is autolog to perform system initializations. If the system is brought up COLD or WARM then AUTOLOG1 is autologged. However if the system is brought up CKPT or FORCE then STARTER0 is autologged. Not allowing STARTER0 to perform its function leads to all sorts of complications as we can know when we went thru this same problem a couple of months ago. ---- .............
