When I grew up in the 70's (born 1968) we had a rather large house, mom, dad, dad's mom, my sister, myself, 3 dogs, 1 cat, and a handfull of fish. 2 cars.

Only 1 parent worked, and while we were hardly well off, we did live comfortably. The bills got paid, only time they were ever late was when an emergency happened, like when my dad needed surgery...

Today, if you want 1 parent working and 1 stay at home, forget about it. I know several 2-income families who live in smaller houses, have only bought used cars, and they can barely make ends meet.

I got laid off a few years ago (the year after the WTC incident). A month or so later I read in the local paper the top management of the corporation (a regional supermarket chain that competes with WalMart) all gave themselves raises with significant bonuses.

I'm in the US. About a year ago I learned that we have a higher percentage of our population either in jail, prison, on probation, or on parole, than ANY OTHER COUNTRY ON THE PLANET!

How 'free' is that? Our politicos are hypocrites when they talk about how 'free' they claim we are.

Justice is blind, and needs to pay off its new yacht.

removing-hotmail-this.com says... Charity is not taxation. Oh, BS. You wander off into the weeds on some irrelevant tangent and then accuse others of the exact same thing. You are about as black of...

Politicos like yachts too...

Our family didn't make enough to send either me or my sister to college, yet made too much for financial buttistance. So our middle clbutt family then has spawned 2 lower clbutt households. And so continues the growth of the lower clbutt.

Only if you can't afford to buy off^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hpay for high-powered legal buttistance, Just like the Feudal lords used to do.

When our legal system is afraid to give Gates-Microsoft the spanking it deserved, or to hold them to the weak terms they did levy against them, it has lost credibility.

Back when the phone companies' monopoly, and the oil companies' monopoly was broken up, our justice system had balls. Microsoft deserved no less, but there is so much campaign money going around they've bought their way above the law.

Even though I pretty much agree with this whole list of points you've stated... I still don't see the slavery argument you put forth.
