Alien technology from Roswell in computersThe 8008 1745 On Mon, 1 Aug 2005 16:37:23 +0000 (UTC), David Scheidt I asked you to name one. I, my friends and members of my immediate family, owned... No, no, you got this all wrong. See, the aliens didn't just crash with their intergalactic saucer due to some kind of breakdown. They were carefully watching earth, watching humans developing technology at an ever increasing pace. The figured that withhin less than a 100 years, mankind would be so advanced with their technology that mankind would roam the stars and kick the sorry buttes of the little green men. They couldn't allow that to happen. So the little green men started the largest research project in the history of their race, the Human Technology Dead-Ender. They finally came up with a technology path that, if they could get mankind to follow it, would seriously slow down the rate of technological development on earth, ultimately leading into deep dead ends, thereby eliminating the threat of a Human Galactic Empire without an (really, really expensive) interstellar war. The packed all this technology into a very funny-looking space vehicle, towed it with a stealth space tug into earth orbit and dropped it. Since the technology of the vehicle was so incredibly crude and cumbersome, they had to actually use several of their own people to crew it for the "crash landing" - those were considered brave heros (like the kamikaze in World War II Japan). And would you believe it? Enough humans in important positions were actually gullible enough to fall for this trap. So, if you curse the next time at crappy PCs failing or Windows eating your data, you know were that came from. Well, the aliens just left enough clues around - after all this effort, they did not want their project to fail because humans won't have enough technology to fall into the trap. With tongue firmly in cheek, Alex. -- "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." -- Thomas A. Edison
