Anyone remember FCC Regs on emissions was Tops10 disk quota quandary 1331Big deal. I still can't plug my stove in and listen to 1030AM radio. :-) That sounds familiar. VT05s did not pbutt and were sold with a warning sticker. I remember people fighting over them. I don't remember why non-FCC compliant gear became important. server-docs-userguide-WebHelp-frontmatter.htm+FCC+computer+emissions+regula tion+Clbutt+A+Clbutt+B+FCC&hl=en Anyone remember FCC Regs on emissions was Tops10 disk quota quandary 1332 Well, the BSD that Ultrix was based on just came out in 81 or 82. I... Sure. But pbutting the FCC thingie only required that they didn't interfere with police from a distance. -11s wouldn't have been installed in the cop cars back then ;-). emoticon thinks for a bit We've come a long way ;-))). That was 84. -10s were only getting refurbed by then. I didn't think so but I've been wrong about so many things (except for certain biz practices) this week, I decided not to try for an nth time. I remember customers scrambling for the pre-FCCed gear. Probably. '84 sounds late, though. Maybe Ultrix had problems getting its first ship out the door. ISTR 1982 but may be confused. They didn't learn. Three people had to be removed from the food chain before sensible thing started getting done again. Which is how the soft-hardware gear evolution should have gone. That's what fries my butt. The TOPS-10 guys did it, therefore it must be the wrong thing to do for all humankind for the rest of all time. I just found a poster, "for internal use only" while clearing a space in my junk room. An option was a quad VAX system that was supported by a lot of OSes. IIRC, the number was 9000. Now, if SMP was so f***ing braindead in 1978, then why was-is it still getting done? And those OSes included the ones that Crispin claims to be superior to PDP-10 OSes. It was awful. Three big extra modules had to go into the monitor just for the purpose of losing control of the disk geometries. It sure didn't sound like a tradeoff to me but that's what got handed to us and that's what got put into software. Anyone remember FCC Regs on emissions was Tops10 disk quota quandary 1334 Really? How many TOPS-10 vs TOPS-20 customers were there in 1980? Now I know that you are in a fantasy world. Perhaps the real reason why... Subtract a hundred and four for e-mail.
