Well .... Maybe. I'm not sure we understand each other here, and of course I should add the disclaimer that I'm working from an imperfect memory of what he said in whichever book it was. If by "parbreastioning" you mean buttigning different activities to different parts of the mind, so they can be done concurrently, in his description this was happening, but not under conscious control, and what he found interesting was observing how it happened and which activities apparently got buttigned to the same "functional unit".

I'd be inclined to think that some of the things that are understood about concurrency and synchronization (what can be done at the same time, what can't, how to manage "this must be done before that" constraints) might apply. Maybe not. I think we approach this subject from very different angles, with me thinking that theory really helps .... "In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they're not." (I'm quoting someone, but not sure whom.)

(I think I must have read some of those books, by the way -- the stuff about carrying stuff up stairs sounds familiar. )

(Though more than once one of my female students and I have found ourselves talking about shoes and laughed about how we were probably reinforcing some gender stereotype. The chatter, though, was more about how neither of us quite gets how buying more shoes is a therapeutic activity. Now that I think about it, the mere fact that it *was* chatter, though .... Hm.)
