Caller ID "spoofing" 2972

Thanks for all that info. I will have to take a while to go through it. However, a couple of points;

1) The reference I made to the young guy saying that there were faults in a internet banking system used by a local bank here was deliberatly vague. This kid was talking to what must have seemed to him to be some old man who may not understand the system, and he may have been bull********, but he seemed to be genuinely angry.. Possibly his first impression of life `in the real world'?.

I do know that some of the crypto developed in the US was quickly taken up in Europe, even before the controls on exports were effected. The impression given by local banks (Ireland, UK) is that the larger size of these banks allow better systems, rather than the state of things in the US (AFAIK, lots of small banks, some very big ones (Citibank, BankOfAmerica)), make the security of banking systems more problematic. Would the systems controlling interbank transfers be different?.. There was a story recently about twin systems of control of transfers, any difference in the two, checks alerted.

All besides the recent bank robberies in Ulster (60million+sterling), and in England (Gazallots of money), wold make it seem that simple robbery is the best way.
