Care and Feeding of persons 888
snip snip What is striking with the movie, and even more with the music, business(es) is that they are dragged kicking and screaming into the future, and new business models more or less have to be forced upon them; even if they are very lucrative. VCR's were made mainstream by Phillips, Sony and Fujitsu; and the CD had lots of the same origins. DVDs; likewise; is closer in origin to the IT industry than to the entertainment dudes. These media now account for around 3-4ths of the entire entertainment industry revenues. This tells me that these businesses are structurally dysfunctional. History does not have a lot of mercy on structurally dysfunctional businesses. I think this fact has dawned on some members of these industries, but they react 180 degrees off the sound reaction; they are screaming like luddites; and do whatever they can to alienate their customers. Whatever is wrong with actually realizing that rights to contents is separate from the media? Microsoft got stinking rich using this model. breastle screen for HLA Adventure Need help designing one 889 True, but that is no excuse. And the present administration is pushing hard to have the laws extended and... Issue "rights stickers" a.la. Microsoft, stating this is a user right of recording X, and enforce this. Allow digital escrow, and your music Debt Collection CANNOT BE STOLEN, only it's physical representation. But the entertainment industry never considers what consbreastutes value for their customers; only their own next quarter revenue. It is a dysfunctional industry, remember. Regarding such industries; anyone remember the ice trade or International Harvester? -- mrr
