Seeing as you bring it up, though, remember the episode "Absolute Power"?

Shifu - who contains all the genetic knowledge of the enemy deep in his mind - comes to the SGC...and everyone wants to "extract" the information out of the child...then they would know of all their technologies and be able to defend Earth from Gou'ald attack...

Daniel talks to Shifu, who tells him this isn't a wise idea...Daniel doesn't understand why...so, Shifu touches him...and then Daniel has access to all the knowledge...he is granted "absolute power"...

And then, using the knowledge, Daniel works on creating weapons for defending Earth...he insists on "secrecy" because the mission is "too important"...as he contains this knowledge - this power - the governments do as he asks, provide him what he needs...those who "disagree" with him are "disappeared" and removed (Teal'c: Who can spot a "false god" at a hundred paces ;)...

Then Daniel places the defence satellites around Earth...when Russia - who was kept out of this and was not informed about what was going on - complain...Daniel decides to "show them who holds the power", turns the weaponry against Moscow and utterly wipes the city off the map...

And Daniel says this is necessary to defend from the Goa'uld...but Jack makes one important remark to this: "You ARE a Gou'auld!"...

Daniel wakes up - it was all an "illusion", a fiction, to help him see the truth - and when they talk of "extracting" the information out of the child, Daniel cries "no!"...and the child is left to leave (which he COULD have done at any time at all, you'll note...but he stayed long enough for Daniel to understand the importance of the "lesson")...

Daniel, in the fantasy, WAS his enemy...he had adopted the enemy's tactics...he had adopted the enemy's methods...he had BECOME his enemy in the pursuit of destroying that "enemy"...because, bloodthirsty for the "kill", he had little-by-little surrendered everything that made him "him" and took up the ways of his enemies instead...

The "enemy" is defined by his ACTIONS:

If we surrender who we are, in order to kill our enemies at all costs...then how does this make us any different to them?

Do we not BECOME the "enemy" ourselves in that action?

Was not the enemy's original crime, exactly that of surrendering themselves "at all costs" (dissolution planting), merely to "kill the enemy"?

If the politicians are given "absolute power" - with laws allowing them to "control" everyone and "remove" those people who disagree with them - do they not become "false gods"? Do we not become "enslaved" to their wishes?

No, we will NOT "finish him off", NoDot...

Because THAT is exactly what makes us different to our enemy:

"We don't leave anyone behind" ;)...
