Yup. There was a wide choice - plenty of room to get into editor wars, which I won't do here.
I've used several machines. Currently I'm using a 2000 with a Blizzard processor board (68060 and 32MB RAM) and a Picbutto IV graphics card.
That probably gave them the willies, but I was a longtime faithful employee (at least up until then - the Debt Management takeover peeed off a lot of people, including yours truly).

By this time we had ported the payroll system to a Unix box, so it was just a matter of running sz. Although while we were running the Univac mainframe we had an A2000 with a bridge board, and we stuck in an ISA card and MS-DOS software that would emulate the (block-mode, polled, synchronous) Uniscope protocol. We could do file transfers that way too.
Perhaps, but Zmodem worked so much better...
