Folk keyboard 745
FWIW... Folk keyboard 747 Yup. I remember that one but never used it. When I started working in Tape Prep, 1971, there... Before 1987, I did most of my work on keyboards similar to that of the VT-100, and used EMACS heavily. I got used to having the ctrl key just to the left of the 'A'. Folk keyboard 746 Dennis Ritchie The evolution and pricing of terminals goes along with the use of micros in the '70s. At the start... When I got a job with a PC development platform in 1987, and the ctrl key moved to the lower corners of the keyboard, it took me a while to train myself to use it. I hit CapsLock a lot. Trying to use EMACS was futile -- the fingers had too much memory. But over time I got used to it. Technology marches on. My current system uses WinXP, and I've remapped CapsLock to ctrl. But I've used the new ctrl keys too much to give them up completely (especially the one on the left), so I left those alone. I don't use CapsLock much, but I missed it occasionally until I mapped it to the "Windoze" key on the RHS of the keyboard (which I otherwise would never use). And I can use EMACS again (though I'm not nearly as proficient as I once was). The best of all worlds, until something better comes along... Regards, -=Dave -- Change is inevitable, progress is not.
