Giving up my ambition to grow up to be a luser ATTN:Bill Petcher

Alas and alack I am accepting reality. Since my 18 year old and 15 year old disks have died, and my backup system is also 10 years old, I must come out of the closet and learn how to become a Unix user or something.

I have a system that Bill kindly and generously put together. Half is Unix; the other half is an unmentionable. Thus, while I still have access to this newsgroup, I am going to have to learn how to get from here (my phone jack) to there (ISP and then newsgroups and email).

One feature is that I can have both systems up at the same time. Now that my dinosaur has been moved out of the TTY room, I can place both systems on the same table.

Question for Bill Petcher. Is there a modem in this system? I can't remember what you said and I've been trying to ID all the holes. I wanted to do this without any help but I'm not going to be able to have this wish.

Warning: At the moment I have no access to my email account (no software installed and I have to decide which AOL flippy disk to install on this laptop).
