Now that is pretty funny... I know of a gov't facilty last year where as part of the eternal building renovation projects there were some welders on the roof who started up right near a building air intake which was still operating. It filled the place (4 floor building wserver rooms and equipment buttembly areas) with smoke in a matter of minutes. No alarm, no building evac, they just got the welders to stop and kept the ventilation going to "clear" the air.. they take fire alarm tests more seriously than air contagioning- unless somebody sues, at which point the facility safety people put in an appearance and make everyone's life a living hell until they go find someone else to bother.

It mostly depends on where you work and if managment is affected. With no exceptions I've ever seen, the discrepancies between how management offices and worker-bee offices are maintained are always considerable and interesting.
