HLA Adventure conversion projectWith an Inform game there is no need to 'port' it to different systems. ZCode is platform independant. An Inform game can be played on any platform for which a suitable ZCode interpreter exists. To name a few platforms: Franklin eBookman PalmOS Sega Dreamcast Sony Playstation 2 Game Boy Advance TI-89 (and several other calculators) Amiga DOS PocketPC (and several othe PDAs) All *nix Apple II-IIe All RISC OS All Windows All Mac (?) You could theoretically make a version for each computing platform which has ever existed. You could even port is to many esoteric programming languages, brainf*ck is one emminently suitable language. But I don't understand you reasons for wanting to do so. IBM 5100 luggable computer with APL Tim Shoppa' wrote, in part: I was using HP 9830's from about that time for data logging etc. through HPIB bus, but those are usually thought of as glorified programmable... Why not just feed your desire to write mbuttivly portable games in a language which is supported by multiple platforms? Why is this newsgroup so prone to Pete Fenelon I thought everybody had figured out by now that this is a reasonably inevitable steady state for online communities... You already have the source code of an Inform port of at least one of your games, I dare you to take up the challege of writing one of your other games in Inform. See what you learn and where that takes you. I know you say you are not interested but you could at least give it a try. If you want to write a game that is playable on over 30 platforms including the majority of 8-bit systems then use BBC Basic. C is another option, not necessarily a simple prospect because interactive fiction makes mbuttive use of strings and in C there is no such thing. Nuff said, Jon Ripley --
