Part of our paper source library was the filcoms. That was another thing that got dropped in the process at the end. There were many a bug found just by reading a filcom and noticing that a section of code got edited that wasn't marked.

Yes, that is definitely a business opportunity. But I think it would take a trained lawyer to do the work and it may not pay enough.

All this was because the gear had to be listed as capital equipment; right? I never figured out how accounting rules changed the category when stuff eventually became expensed items. I think computer systems are transitioning now but I'm not sure.

So they were essentially trying to keep track of pencils, each marked with a serial number. How does stuff get established as capital rather than something else? Is that the tax code?

This is one instance that I'm glad I don't work. I'm not sure I'd be able to interact with culture successfully. I was in a store yesterday whose logical main frame was down so all stores' computers were inoperative. It took 1-2 hour for them to figure out how to fill out a form using paper and pencil and complete the transaction. I was the only person in the store at that time. The manager was trying to train the "newbies" how business was conducted before computers with idiot keys existed. And this wasn't been all that long ago.
