History of first use of allcomputerized typesetting 3320the cp67-cms manuals were done in script .... and then i think photo-offset for printing. the 1403 TN printer provided uppercase-lowercase ... and you could get some sort of 1403 sharper printing ribbon (film?) for final copies ... more distinct-sharper characters than you got with standard fabric ribbon the principles of operation was a much wider distributed manaul ... nearly all the mainframe customers ... rather than just cp67-cms customers the original cms script document processing command had been done early at the science center which had runoff like "dot" commands (tracing common heritage back to ctss) and then in 1968 plus 1 at the science center, "G", "M", & "L" invented GML (i.e. precursor to sgml, html, xml, etc) ... and gml processing supported was added to script command ... and you could even intermix "dot" commands and "gml" tags i think part of the early move of principles of operation to cms script was conditionals ... where the same source file could produce the full internal architecture "red book" and its subset, principles of operation document available to customers.
