No toll taker salary needed. In NJ the exit booths are unmanned in many locations after rush hour and prime holiday time. It remains your responsibility to insert the 35 cents in the bucket even if no one's there to make change. They used to stock envelopes to mail in the toll. They can and do ticket those folks who ride and don't drop the change... even if there's no one there to break a buck at 3am.

Hated that feature when I was in Field Service. Always had to have a pile of change in the car in case...

Now EZ Pbutt just deducts from the bank account at a $25.00 chunk and lets me run the virtual tab. The office doesn't need the receipts for business travel tolls so it's easier. The billing record's on line and can help prove the time of the service call and how long it was... Not too bad of a system if it wasn't for the additional transponder charge -- which was supposed to be free when the system was introduced in NJ.
