IBMWatson autobiographythoughts on 772The area I grew up in wasn't that remote. As for those glbutt canning jars: My mother, who is over 80, is still using jars that her mother used. When my mother dies, her daughters will use them. I'm using my grandmother's cast aluminum Dutch oven. She received it as a wedding present probably around 1916 or so. Right. In Michigan, one farmer might own some of the large gear and others would borrow it or have the owner of the device do the work. I don't know how they would coordinate it all but it was done. All schedules had to adjust based on the weather, illness, accident and rest. It was highly dependent on a person's word that he would show up to do the work. At one point, a cemetary was created east of Dad's farm. He did the plowing and discing to set up the landscaping. He didn't get paid. People volunteered labor. They didn't get paid. People who are having problems with how things got done and made back then should know that people didn't have money in their pockets.
