UAP := "Update Analysis Program"

IBM 3330
3830 disk control unit could attach to multiple channels there is also head-of-string, 3333 ... that supported string-switch ... which allowed the head-of...

(AFAIK the IHG prefix was never used for any other program)

IHGUAP was (allegedly) a reporting tool, using the SSI data to identify fixes. I say "allegedly" because the few times I ran it just to see what happened it never produced anything of use. Admittedly, my first sysprog-level contact with OS-360 was with release 12, so it might have done something useful in earlier environments, but if so I never heard of anyone who had used it. (And I'm sure that someone, somewhere still has the SRL for it. Al?)

I suppose that you could consider JCAMOD as the successor to IHGUAP, with the idea that it would parse the Stage 1 output and build updates when DLIB files were updated by a PTF.) It didn't have much more success than did IHGUAP, and the most memorable thing I remember about it was that the SRL carried an order number with a ZC prefix. *Why* did someone slap the restrictive Z onto a program manual? (Perhaps it was the same person who insisted on dividing the Installation News Letter into two sections: green pages (with sales information) for the customers, and white pages (with useful technical info) that were supposedly for internal IBM use only).

there was internal use only confidential confidential - restricted registered confidential all the "Z" I saw were confidential and customer might have to sign something to get a copy...
