It's official: "nuke" infected Windows PCs instead of fixing them. 3217Yes, yes, we agree about this, but what does that have to do with a claim that Unix doesn't work for people who are both system users and system managers? Again .... Well, based on discussion in the other thread about this, I get the impression that the Unix documentation you've been looking at is focused on "how to use the system" as opposed to "how to manage the system" -- which in some ways is how it should be (in that users shouldn't need to also be system managers), but not helpful if you have to fill both roles. It's official: "nuke" infected Windows PCs instead of fixing them. 3218 There is also a point about Unix not being the user interface. There is nothing much beyond... As people have pointed out in the other thread, though, there are books and Web documents aimed at teaching newbies the basics of Unix-Linux system management. A lot of this stuff, as far as I can tell, is of fairly recent vintage; there *was* a time when only hardcore techies could wade through the cryptic documentation (or lack thereof) needed to install and run Unix or Linux, but I think that time is past. My guess is that newbies are still likely to occasionally run into problems that can only be resolved by someone who knows more, but .... isn't that the case for Windows too?
