At one point the US allowed the printing of money at local banks. You know what that led to. The creation of the Federal Reserve System didn't simply come into being because it was a neat idea; the existing system failed miserably and landed us into the Great Depression.

And all this time I thought it was because the former Soviet Union no longer is capable of performing a check and balance as was present during th Cold War. In short, we were tolerated in Europe due to the fact that we were a deterrent to a Soviet invasion. Now that the fear of a Soviet invasion no longer exists our presence in Europe is seen as a threat.

Right we have dollar hegemony and it is clear in the purcahse of petroleum and bully for us that we do, or we'd be in deep poo otherwise.
