You can't bill the advertisers if you aren't on the air.... The ESB was the location of the NY TV channel transmitters before the WTC was built, and some stations kept standby equipment there in the event of failure of the equipment on the WTC. To their honor, the major transmitter manufacturers went all out to ship tested-and-working transmitters to the ESB as soon as they could and worry about the purchase orders later. You can't bill advertisers for signals that you can't deliver. They knew that they were going to have to operate from the ESB for many years, and they wanted to do one build only. post 911 recovery, was: Metroliner telephone article misc snip Only one of the VHF stations, WCBS (channel 2) had a secondary transmitter. When the chips are down it doesn't matter who signs your paycheck, we technical people all pull together (what happened to him today can happen to me tomorrow...). Pity that the program and advertsing end of the industry doesn't operate that way. -- "Stand Clear of the Closing Doors, Please" Phil Kane - Beaverton, OR PNW Milepost 755 - Tillamook District
