But their cost of offering services IS variable and dependent on usage. When they install a... Be careful if they get inside... Well, you see, the moron from Comcast that "installed" the cable when I moved to Holmdel from Tinton Falls cut the RG59 leads to each room in the prewired house. Metroliner telephone article 4126 One of the issues that held back widespread use of ISDN was that typical digital trunks installed during the 80's... Comcast cut each wire to the rooms (all were labeled with numeric tags readable when the room F connector plate was unscrewed from the wall. I could understand them not wanting to overload the line with too many disconnected wires on cascaded splitters. The cables could easily have been unscrewed. It took a ton of threats of legal action and me not ordering the digital cable to get them to consider fixing the work their idiot tech did. As soon as the tech showed up to put in the cable modem and I showed him what was done... he groaned about idiot installers and recrimped all the connections and told me that the moron violated the company policy on cutting homeowners wires. Damned if I know if he was just saying that to placate me. It did get me to continue cable service. DSL isn't available on this side of the street... there's some kind of "fiber" segment spliced in between the 732-888 exchange. The 264 switch in the same location serves DSL to the guys next door and the punchdown block in the basement is labeled 264-lovex. Couldn't figure why they couldn't connect another set of wires in the street to feed the DSL, but they took back all the DSL modem supplies and credited my account when I tried to get it. Bill -- -- digital had it THEN. Don't you wish you could still buy it now! pechter-at-ureachtechnologies.com
