Mickey and friends 4580
Mickey and friends 4581 Oh, thank you. I've been trying to figure this out for years now. I hadn't thought a fuzzy definition was a piece of the...
But MLK was only partially right. Zionism has the same problems as other nationalist movements. Mickey and friends 4583 past threads-posts from above: my wife has just started a set of books that had been awarded her father at west point ... they are from... Zionism is held to be special. I cannot see what is so idelogically special about it; it is a nationalist movement for the Jewish people. I accept that the Jewish people has had some unique challenges to their nationhood, among these are actually securing the territory of the homeland, and building a cencus. Not to mention the pogroms and the holocaust. But as long as we accept that Jews have the same rights as other peoples we must accept their right to form a nationalist movement. That does not extend to defenting and promoting all the causes of same movement. That said; there are nationalist and there are nationalists. The term is needlessly imprecise, and Zionism is, unfortunatly, riddeled by the same schisma. I have never gotten any better definitions regarding zionism than I have had from other nationalist movements. If Zionism is a movement for physical security of the people, a consbreastutional, secular state within a well respected, safe border, and equal trade relations with the other states in the world I am all in. It it becomes excluding, racist, militarist or facist I will resist and defy it. The zionist movement was instrumental in bootstrapping Israel as a modern state. Now I long for normalcy to prevail, not a constant embattlement. The imprecise definition in Zionism is part of this problem. Not that it is unique. The modern nationalist movements of France, Russia, Poland, Serbia and others are far more ideologically problematic; but they aren't intertwined with the state in the same way. To acheive normalcy as a state Israel must disintwine the state from the zionist movement. That will take nation building efforts. Mickey and friends 4582 Then keep trying, as Mr. Reistad is quite inaccurate in his buttessment. There is nothing fuzzy about it. Again, read Rev. Dr. MLK's position, it is as accurate and well... Now, does that make me a anti-zionist ? -- mrr
