Simplistic. Much of it is tribal warfare, with little to do with nationalism or a desire to establish and maintain a homeland, and more to do with a desire for tribe A to eliminate tribe B. ROwanda is a prime example of this. In the Sudan, it is simply a case of Muslims trying to wipe out all non-Muslims, something that has been ongoing since the slaugher of the British forces under Charles Gordon.
