Moving buttembler programs above the line 505
in the late '70s, there was the scenerio of some of the dasd testcell regression programs being modified to run under mvs ... however they found that the MVS MTBF with a single operational testcell (i.e. controller under development, would do all sorts of prohibited i-o things) was on the order of 15 minutes. as a result, testcell testing (bldgs. 14 & 15) was limited to dedicated stand-alone scheduled testtime running testing-reqression programs (stand-alone). I redid the i-o subsystem to be bullet proof, so that half-dozen testcells could be operated concurrently ... misc. past posts unfortunately, i happened to document the information in a corporate confidential document ... including mentioning the 15min MTBF for MVS with a single testcell. even tho it was a corporate confidential document, the 2nd line MVS RAS manager in POK still caused quite a bit of uproar. It sort of reminded me of the CERN-SHARE study from the early 70s comparing CMS and TSO ... where the copies available inside the corporation were (re-)clbuttified corporate confidential-restricted (available on a need-to-know basis only). Moving buttembler programs above the line 506 some of those details ... TSS-360 was the "official" system for 360-67 ... while cp67 was done at cambridge science center at one point i believe there were... for a little more topic drift ... GML had been invented at the science center by "G", "M", and "L" ... misc. past posts The early days: From typewriter to Waterloo Script: Waterloo Script was the Univ. of Waterloo version of CMS SCRIPT command. The above somewhat gives the history thread from GML and its evolution into HTML at CERN. --
