Yea, I'm aware of this trick. I need to buy drill bits. Carpentry is a lot like computers...you buy one thing and...

The soap approach is good. Its also helpful to drill pilot holes, particularly for long screws or when there is risk of the material splitting. So you'll find its nice to have 2 drills handy, one for the pilot hole and the other to drive the screw. The gimicky quick-change screwdriver-drill-countersink systems are cute- I've worked through a couple sets of them, they do work but are light duty, the 2 drill approach is bulky but more robust.

It can be tricky to keep from stripping the phillips heads of drywall screws even with wrists and arms operating at full power. "Robertson" head screws are really nice, unfortunately not popular in the US for things other than deck or cement board screws- they have a square hole head. It fits onto the driver and sticks there, won't fall off like phillips heads tend to when you're single-handing, and you'll break the screw before you strip the head.

If its the torque thats proving too much, you might get one of the larger drills with a brace down at the chuck so you can use both arms. Unfortunately those tend to be on heavier drills- but you might come across a lighter cordless model with one.
