New, improved Was: Data Entry 1265where move the the The Inuit (sp?) have many names for snow, IIRC, something like 50. I remember in the movie "Fargo" a couple of scenes of people walking on snow. It is the same area, first the bad guys, then the cop (a pregnant woman). The snow is light and unpacked underneath, but the top has melted during the day and re-froze the next night. This causes a "shell" of ice over basically power snow. The bad guy obviously didn't grow up around snow and missteps a few times. The cop (pregnant - but probably a fake suit of some kind) handles it great - she steps into the hard looking snow and it breaks around her foot and she sinks a foot or so without stumbling. It was the kind of thing where anyone who grew up around snow would deal with, but could be very surprizing to a newbie. It made the character of the Northern Cop more believable, and I wonder if it was a subtle background "movie thingy" or if she just grew up in snow. impossible New, improved Was: Data Entry 1266 Various indirect means are used to estimate historical CO2 levels, such as gases trapped in glaciers and Antarctic ice, tree... But it makes nice, natural "snow frizbees". OK, Dad, I'll shovel it after school. I promise. No, I mean it this time. Uh, tornados. The Earth will not get warmer - the weather will get more weird. At least, that's my take on it. We're in a self-correcting environment. If the Earth gets hotter, more things (alga, plants) absorb the free energy until it gets cold again, then they die and pollute everything ("I love the smell of rotting garbage in the morning"). Then more die (disease, plague), until something (roaches, politicians) can eat all the free decayed stuff. Then they rule until something eats the roaches and rats and big things can exist again. Circle of life stuff. -- Mabden
