Perhaps I should have been clearer in my recollection. 360 ... was to indicate IBM 360 family hardware. 360 and later generations. OS MVS ... was to indicate the operating system family. All the way out to ESA. The cold start IPL I remember is from a mag tape, where the first file was a loader and the second file was the actual system. I remember that we used it when the machine had been completely powered down for some reason. This was already in the time when HASP had been long replaced by JES2.

As side drift to another thread. In the HASP ... history thread, you mention unexplained that the source code had "TUCC" in cols 68-71. That "TUCC" refers to the Triangle University Computation Center which was the computer consortium owned by the University of North Carolina, Duke, and North Carolina State university and located in the Research Triangle between Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh NC. TUCC did a fair amount of development in HASP. It was one of the first area university networks, executing jobs submitted remotely from the three universities. And for more drift. :) It was also the place where the version of Unix that was later taken over by Amdahl was first developed.
