This doesn't make any sense. Why would a garage risk its working arrangement with a warranty company by being obstinate, one that already agreed to pay the repair bill, less the belt? And here, you say the garage was ready to let go the cost of a belt under a *greater total* of non-billed parts anyway. They shafted themselves, if anything .

You might think that, but I've more than paid for the extended warranties I've put on vehicles and a heater...

Let's see, the garage can get the whole job paid for in one swoop, less a belt, which by itself is less than the parts the garage was going to eat anyway, so not only did the garage shaft you, it caused itself nothing but a lot of aggro, and lost income, whereas it could have been paid and then happily seen the back of you out the door and....bollocks.

I stand by my original gut feeling. It wasn't covered. They were going to forego the cost of the parts, no small deal anywhere, to pacify you. Why else would they do that? Again, none of it makes sense.

And there really was no warranty company involved, was there?

After all the belt rubbish above, with a grain of salt, dearie.
