re: some more history of ncss and time-sharing ... from above privates wrote the file system for the disk, and I coded the terminal handling for the 930...

re:

the first week in june '68, ibm hosted a one week clbutt in hollywood ... clbuttes were at the ibm site on wilshire ... and everybody stayed at the beverely hills hotel. I was undergraduate and the univ. sent me so i thot it was a lot of fun.

monday morning, ibm asked me if i would teach some of the cp internals. it turned out that the lead cp kernel developer and the person that was to teach cp internals had given notice the friday before that he was leaving to help form this new cp67 time-sharing service bureau company.

over the years they heavily extended their version of cp67 and called it vp-css.

for even more drift ...

ramis from Mathematica Products Group in Princeton, New Jersey offered exclusive on vp-css in 1968 plus 1

ncss then did their own called "nomad" and the Mathematica Products Group released "focus"

an unofficial nomad home page:

later there was a 370 clone manufactor, two-pi. ncss branded and sold 120 or so two-pi machines with their branded version of cp67-cms (and two-pi sold another 100 or so)

i.e. ncss sold more of its own re-branded two-pi machines with its own branded version of cp67-cms than the total number multics systems.

two-pi was acquired in 1981 by four-phase.

for other drift ... in the 70s, the original relational-sql was all done on vm370 base on sjr .... called system-r

some past postings mentioning nomad, ramis, focus
