i mentioned that in this time-frame there had been some transition-threshold and you started see 43xx orders of multi-hundred machines at a time (in the late 70s and early 80s). one example in 1981 was a chip manufacture that ordered nearly 1000 4341s in a single order (although orders for 200-500 4341s at a time were more common).
here is old post about air force data center that had a multics installation and in 1979 were looking at upgrading.
and between spring of 1979 and fall of 1979 changed a twenty 4341 order to 210 4341s.
