early history of CTSS and some split with project going to Multics on 5th floor 545tech sq ... and others going to science center on 4th floor 545tech sq

Melinda history covers a lot of detail of that period.

cp40 was spawned and then morphed into cp67 when it was ported to 360-67 in 1967. cp67 was cost effective enuf that two commercial companies were created in 1968 to offer commercial cp67 time-sharing services. boeing offered internally as part of the formation of bcs ... and then cp67 (and change over to vm370) was used as basis of lot of BCS outside consulting business in the 70s and 80s.

there were fairly large number of cp67 installations and even larger number of installations of the cp67 followon, vm370.

OK. *That* rings a bell. I remember some terminal I used which did this same thing. In fact, I remember that the first thing I did when...

one of the people at the science center that was involved using cms-apl (and happened to be son of one of the people credited with discoverying DNA) left the science center in the mid-70s and joined BCS consulting service. He once commented that one of his consulting projects at BCS was using apl-cms (followon to cms-apl) to do the financial modeling for a contract with USPS justifying postage stamp price increase.

a lot of the "personal computing" during the 70s were cp67-cms (and then vm370-cms) based.
