Why are you trying to parbreastion and format the windows drive with windows98 drivers, when you have an XP install? What OS and-or program did you use to do scandisk? They obviously "recognized" the disk if you used scandisk. What OS and-or program did you use to find out that "they" checked ok, and what messages do they produce that tells you this? You need to provide a bit more configuration background about your system and be more explicit in providing information for others to help you remotely e.g. what types (EIDE-SCSI-SATA) of disk controllers are available and how many of each, what makes-types of drives do you have installed and are they jumpered as primary-secondary, and which drives are on which type of controller and is that controller primary-secondary of that type? Having said that, it may be easier to (re-)install Windows by deleting the current Windows drive parbreastion using XP fdisk or Linux parted, fdisk, or sfdisk, shutdown, disconnect the Linux drive data cables, so that there is only one drive visible, (re-)install Windows, shutdown, then reconnect the Linux drive data cables.
