i thot i usually the whole machine room to myself on the weekend ... but one weekend i got pre-empted because the ibm se and one of the univ. system programmers were doing a sysgen. i tried to work around them ... they spent something like 8 hrs do a stage1 & stage2 sysgen ... maybe 150 cards stage1 ... that in turn punched out a jobstream of about 2000 cards for stage2 sysgen. apparently something went wrong in the stage2 ... so they broke for dinner and were going to come back and redo the whole thing again from scratch.

while they were gone ... i made copies of both the stage1 deck and the stage2 deck to see what was going on.

they came back ... and did their thing ... but over the next couple weeks i tried to figure out what stage1 and stage2 were doing as well as what was on the starter system. they had done os-360 release 7 or 8? after some more work ... i asked if i could do the next sysgen in the standard system job stream. I did os-360 release 9.5 ... mostly using a starter system.

for os-360 release 11 sysgen, i ran stage1 in standard stream and got the stage2 sysgen deck ... and sent it off to be interpretted. i then broke the individual job steps apart and added job cards so many of them could be run as independent jobs ... instead of one long, single job stream. some of the stuff, i reorganized in attempt to better optimize placement of different stuff on disk.

i made a presentation on the work at share ... and also continued work on reorganizing the stage2 stream to better optimize the resulting system files.
