there was an iucv emulation done for mvs at one time. the early mainframe tcp-ip product was done...

adventure was originally done in Fortran. i believe shortly after it was available on sail-pdp10 at stanford ... somebody from tymshare had ported it to cp-cms.

tymshare was one of the large vm370 timesharing services in the 70s.

possibly one of the largest such facility was when the US HONE datacenters were consolidated in cal. ... not very far from the tymshare datacenter. HONE was the internal timesharing service that provided support for world-wide sales, marketing and field people (for instance, starting with the 370 115-125 ... a salesman couldn't order a machine that hadn't been processed by a hone application). misc. past HONE postings

... in any case ... i got a copy of adventure from tymshare very sortly after they had done the cp-cms port and I made it available internally. sort of as a policy ... I would distribute the executable internally ... but only send the source to people that had finished the game. At one point there was some claim that internal corporate productivity world-wide had significantly dropped because so many people were playing adventure on cp-cms. STL lab. declared a 24hr amnesty and would then heavily penalize people caught playing adventure during normal working hrs.

misc. past adventure posts

Rich Alderson Well, there are so many three-letter abbreviations...CDC, BBN, IBM, FBI, CIA... IMHO, the interview I mentioned...gives some indication as to why Don Wood is easy to contact and Willie Crowther...
