Indeed it does state that. It confirms the existence of UHI.

But UniMelb says that UHI do influence the temperature data. They say that this is not evidence that the climate has remained unchanged. All it says is that the UHI influences the temperature data.

UniMelb (IIRC) also deals with specific factors that incluence with the intensity of the UHI such as prevailing winds, structures (shading, reflection, heat-sink).

M&M used Mann's method on numerous random data sets and came up with a number of "hockey stick" curves very much like Mann's published data.

Mann's reconstruction will almost always come up with a hockey-stick curve, no matter what you throw at it (within reason).

More importantly, neither M&M's corrected curve 1 nor Mann's has statistical significance. M&M admit that.

M&M certainly have convinced quite a few of their colleagues.

Minor point: To show causality; one must have much more than a statistical correlation and present a possible mechanism.

Based on what is a known causality of the total greenhouse effect; including the majority of it being due to water vapour, then the focus on 0.1% of it in anthropegenic CO2 looks like an incredibly foolish pursuit.

Trying to sweep what looks like a 400-yearly climate cycle under the carpet makes one suspicious of those wielding the broom and the type of broom being used.

And we should be suspicious of everything that is published.
