The 8008 1777That the same lady that wrote "The Proud Tower" about the causes of the First World War?.. That was very, very, good.
The Ottomans sent in the Army every time the locals started to war. (Thats why the entrances to Christian Churches in the Levent are so small).. They kept the djenni corked up in the bottle, but that was all. It was almost impossible to do anthing to build up the community, the corruption was so bad. I was reading a biography of Luther recently, and at time, the Ottomans were regarded as good and fair rulers. I do know from hearsay, that the Irish soldiers that fought in Gallopili admired their Turkish adverseries. A lot of the problem with EU popular antipathy to Turkey is that Turkish workers are making low-level EU jobs their own, and this has become a real problem with large numbers of Eastern Europeans coming west and working for very low wages, one shipping company here is proposing letting off 500+ Irish staff and replacing them with Eastern Europeans that will work for quarter the wages. What will happen when 60million Turks join?.. Actually, I went through Kreuzburg (sp?) in Berlin last year... I hate to say this, but the Turks there were a lot friendlier than the Germans. The 8008 1778 Yes, same woman. She was the first historian I read. Then I read some guy's work and was so disappointed. That was my first lesson in men ignoring grocery lists as a prime...
