Yes, I remember that from the installation instructions for replacement generators. I presume that the armature windings fluctuate, but I would that thought that the field was static. True. What they need is an impact & tilt sensor that disconnects the batteries. Yes, they would be better off designing hi-capacity quick charging batteries. Then you just pull into the charging station and get a 10 or 15 minute charge. Or design very hi-capacity batteries that are good for 6 to 8 hours while driving 55-65 MPH. Pull in to a motel, and charge for 10 to 15 hours while you sleep. Unless someone invents a more energy efficient way to separate the two. Yup. Pick some material that by virtue of the neutron flux gets changed in to something else that only has alpha or beta decay. (and won't go boom.) Then stick that in a lead box, and use the heat as a source of power. You wind up with a lot of very low power atomic batteries. True, and not too a rosy an outlook for the short term, either.
