I've always wondered about this particular bit of folklore. I've known a number of women who had relatively large breasts, both the natural and the "surgically enhanced" varieties, and few of them have ever complained of all this pain unless they had some physical condition like osteoporosis unrelated to breast size.

Thus, it's unclear in many cases whether this is causal or just coincidence. Women in the military regularly carry heavy backpacks, for instance, which far outweigh all but the most extreme boobage, yet they usually don't complain inordinately of pain.

Women carry babies around in somewhat bralike slings on many occasions, same story.

There is the issue that fuller figure bras which are well made are often hard to come by and are usually very costly. OTOH, it's common folklore that most women who do wear bras have never had a proper fitting and typically buy the wrong size.

I've known fuller figured women who hardly ever wore a bra, and they didn't complain, however.

This seems to be a complex issue with many variables, much as most things are in life.

There seems to be a significant psychological component from the Katie Couric crowd related to the have nots complaining about the haves due to the reputed universal ability of the sight of feminine cleavage to scramble male brains.

OBAFC, prior to the rise of Political Correctness, this sort of folklore tended to be commonly openly debated in IT environments, at least most of the ones I ever worked in.
