Maybe the idea you're trying so unsuccessfully to express takes more than one sentence. Do you mean - some ability that would be favorable if inherited by one's...

In recent research and proofing of one branch of the family we did a graveyard search. Of those stones we found that matched the records, we took photos, as visual evidence of the life and rest of the ancestor. This is an ongoing project, with most of the trips so far confined to the eastern eade of Ohio and the western side of PA.

We have found several quite old and neglected yards, with equally old and neglected stones. Also found better cared for but nearly as old graves in other cemetaries.

At any rate, altho we had names and DOBs of those who were babtized, we also found several sites where there were stones that read "Baby So-n-so, born (sample date 1-1-1865) died (sample date 5-4-1865) May the angels take mercy on his soul" or some such. These births were not necessarily recorded, and in some cases, the babies had not even been named by the time of their rests.

We also found evidence of additional wives (3rd and 4th marriages) that we were not aware of. So the potential for extended family is expanded, but we have no proof of children from these marriages.

And we have a few rather ornery female ancestors-relation who went off on a trip with no kids ro hubbies, and returned several years later with kids, but no hubbies. Common story line was the hubbie died and that is why the ancestor-relation returned.

We even had a lady (mid 1800's, L) who ran off one husband, had him declared dead, remarried, had another batch of kids with Hubby #2. Hubby #2 died, she remarried to hubby #3, and hubby #1 returned. If I have the story right, #1 ceded rights to #3, moved into a house not too far off, and remained drunk the rest of his life.

Some of my family had 8 - 12 kids per generation, going back to the early 1700's. We sorta lose the line there, but my...
