Not at all. It's a much better book because it traces the evolution of work women did as they moved from farm to city. Note that most of the housework on the old-fashioned farms were done by men because they had the strength. When these men moved from farming to offices in the city, that strength was no longer available during the times housework was done.

This is just bullpoo. I saw the opposite. I, as a female in the 50s, got to go to high school because it was the law. My mother and her sisters were not allowed to go because it wasn't the law. The only reason they went to grade school is because it was the law.

I read a biography of the Vanderbilts. The last generation of females exhibited the above behaviour. This is typical when people go from lower clbutt (annual salary-wise) to upper middle clbutt. I haven't seen anything to counter this wastrel living style.
