We are not trying to undermine him, we are trying to prevent further damage to the country, the world, and the reputation of the USA. His foolishness stands for itself. Unfortunately he has managed to fool too many of the people over the past few years. Now the various lies etc. are beginning to catch up with him.
Since we can't practically dispense with him (the Cheney vulture prevents impeachment) the only useful path is to isolate him via a sane Congress and public opinion. I submit that out-of-context quotes are infinitely preferable to out and out lies about uranium, WMDs, squeezing more oil profits, and so forth.

Unlike an honest reprobate such as Johnson (who worried incessantly over the situation) Bush just continues the same underhanded actions, with the same idiotic playmates. He has long since driven any sane ones, such as Powell, away.
