Growing up in Brooklyn instills one with a rather accurate bullpoo detector, it has stood...

Yea. I understand.

Boy, I could have used you as my sounding board. I never knew when I was in the middle of politics or discussing real work. I'd always buttume that people were working. Later I would find out they were lying.

The names?!!!!!!!! Just the f***ing names?!!!!!

But why did you go to those meetings? For that matter, why did you let those meetings go on and on and on. This was the kind of bullpoo going on during one of the GALAXY development cycles. They brought Jim in and it all disappeared with no whimper heard.

For that matter, why the naming done at a meeting? What a waste of a meeting.

DEC wasn't immune. The 20 group must have wasted 1000 manhours on the names of the "secret" project so that customers, who already knew that a new OS was coming, wouldn't know that DEC was working on a new PDP-10 OS.

There sat the gear. The f***ing didn't work; there were bugs; it was slow; and they wasted coder time on picking a secret project name. It was a sign that Digital was coming.

BAH
