On Wed, 19 Apr 2006 04:56:36 GMT, Roland Hutchinson I probably posted this before, but one amusing item was mentioned in the Lord Black scandel in the UK (and Canada), one of his henchmen said that once they took over a newspaper, a person was sent to count the toilet seats in the toilets in the office.. they used that to see how many jobs could be cut. One place I knew was taken over by an `enterprising, innovative' bigger company (in other words, a group of idiots).. the new bosses got in `time and motion' experts , who decided that half of the staff could be let go. They were. Following month, the fired ones were bck on short term contracts. So the managers came to the conclusion that the place would be worth more if it was sold off for real estate.. then they discovered that a lot of the old machinery was insulated with asbestos.. the saga continued as I pbutted by the last time, and another business has taken up the slack from the closed one.

Its like the politics thing, blaming the `other crowd'.. Reall just old-fashioned bad management. A person was telling me recently about the work that has to be done to treat diabitis (ispell choked on that word, whatever the correct spelling is).. Its getting more common, and needs several medical specialties to deal with it, all of which have to be co-ordinated.
