I think you don't understand the trades. Not that I presume to either- but having been under the foot of my wife with her trying to flog along the renovations I can appreciate the reluctance...
So if BAH wants to obsess about hardware cloth vs screen, thats fine but that is not a significant part of the problem of fixing up the fascia and related woodwork on the roof to make squirrel-proofing possible. If she wants a job thats good enough so it won't need redoing in a couple decades, she is in for a lot of work & money.
