Imagine:

You are in your modest house, surrounded by olive groves that take many years to establish, almond trees, etc, and there is a knock on the door. There is a man outside, who says, `We would like you to leave, please?'.. You say `Why?', he says `Our holy book says that God gave us this land, god gave this land to me'. You answer, `Well, my holy book dosn't say that, matter of fact, dosn't mention you at all!.. Anyway, get your lawyers to talk to my lawyers, and we can see how this goes'. He says, `Here comes my lawyer now.' You notice a bulldozer clattering in this direction. He follows up with, `Your house had been identified as a person headquarters, we have a picture of your wife's second cousin's brother-in-law at a Hamas ceremony'.. The bulldozer is getting nearer. You are aware that people who hesitate in front of Israeli bulldozers have occasionally been accidently run over, sometimes the bulldozers have even accidentally reversed over them again, so you gather whatever you can carry and flee, finishing up in a squalid refugee camp in Gaza, Lebanon, or anywhere. You watch TV, and see a program that is showing how the settlers are transforming barren desert, (your olive groves) into fertile farms, with tasteful US-type homes, swimming pools, etc. You get angry, angrier every day, as the UN stands idly by and lets this process continue.. Who to you turn to, to redress the injustice?..

If what happened in The Baltics was caused by a lesser power than the Soviet Union, everyone would attack them.. Its like basic law, poor people go to jail for shoplifting, (Or, if connected to Bush, fired), rich people negotiate a settlement.. Credit to The US for jailing the Enron people, here they would be given the freedom of the city.
