The Pankian Metaphor wasGoodbye to USENET 3152On Wed, 29 Mar 2006 14:55:46 +0200, Morten Reistad Did he?.. I havn't read up about all this much, except the highly partisan views one reads (mostly) in newspapers. I have a feeling that economics is a area where the problems change as we get to understand them, where we need something analogous to `self-modifying code'.. algorithms that will deal with the changes in social thinking. One area that has changed, IMHO, since the Internet Bubble (first) is that people in the (UK, US, and (Ireland(!))) have lost a lot of faith in traditional saving schemes, such as pension funds, etc, and have developed this crazy need to invest in property, often at prices that cannot be sustained. That changes the whole flow of funds through a society, often in ways that are not socially beneficial.
The Pankian Metaphor wasGoodbye to USENET 3155 snip-- the battle of Plbuttey was a turning point, certainly, but i think that Clive, by then, was... Which I have never really `grokked', a relative rang me once to announce that he had a job in Wall Street (probably using that address in a generic form), dealing in `derivates', he lasted a couple of months and AFAIK, is now `resting'.. Are you dealing in any real world at that point :). Terms beloved of financial services people. the early 1990's Russia was going through a crises, and mbuttive loans were sent over to strenghten the emerging `free-market economy'.. Next thing I noticed was that candy bars and food containers in the shops here started to have a notice saying that they were (candy) owned now by `Nestle', and (food) by 'Knorr', both AFAIK, being Swiss companys.. Which seemed to indicate that the money sent to the Russians was invested by them in Swiss bank accounts, leading to ample funds for Swiss companys to `diversify'.. Maybe it was my imagination, but there were strong rumors that time that the money had been misappropriated by the Russian oligarchs. The Pankian Metaphor wasGoodbye to USENET 3153 Wow. I don't think I've ever seen that word. Why is this; they're a RPITA, leaving everybody else to clean up... Keeps Seti going! Again, Cheers. -- greymaus Just Another Grumpy Old Man
