Yup. And that branch is going to need gazillion CPU-centuries of runtime. Now, think about who is going to do the coding. Script bunnies who believe that every thing can be produced the moment it is wished for? Or people who know the physical limitations of the universe, not to mention the existence of different measuring systems.

And then you have the physcists of the JMF and Dennis flavors who did organize code. Now, Livermore may still have card punch fever, but it's been infiltrated with people who cut their eye teeth on TOPS-10 with JMF's mentorship. You aren't talking to the "right" people :-). They ain't going to wave their flags. JMF taught people to shut up and code and to let those who couldn't flap their lips. It keeps them busy and out of the hair of those who are doing real work.
