The Soul of Barb's New Machine was creat 1146Wouldn't the work processes established be similar? I don't really wish to pull apart the processes he's using to herd cats. I'm more concerned that the processes aren't dependent on a completely singular thinking style (redundancy intentional). My processes to build tapes for release apparently were completely dependent on my working style (I haven't made a judgement about my thinking style). Bottom line is that all of the processes, which included self-checks up the gazunda, were completely abandoned. By the time, 7.05 was packaged the whole bit management systems were non-existent and nobody knows what went out. sure. How much of this success is Linus-based. Is the methodology transferrable? I don't know how similar his thinking style is to JMF's. JMF had rough development plans for 10 years. It takes time to do an enhancement well...although it seems like computing services is taking the approach of shipping every day. This too shall swing back. Another vulnerable point is if this evolution plan isn't written down. Although it is true that writing it down makes the plan self-defeating. We have a difference of opinion on definition of "big". :-) I measure in terms of complexity (I think that's the word I want to use). You measure in thingies you can count. I am suspecting that this is a male-female thing. The Soul of Barb's New Machine was creat 1148 I'm not taking this instance too personally but I never had time nor patience to reestablish territorial imperatives every f***ing time I sat...
No question about that. If he ever gets into a certain company's crosshairs, he's going to need serious help by serious people who are willing to sacrifice their time for it. The problem is that there isn't anything people of that ilk can do because of the way things are done. And I don't know enough of the processes to be able to point and say, "There." This company has been very quiet lately; it bothers the hell out of me. The Soul of Barb's New Machine was creat 1147 Don't take this too personal. It is quite common here in a.f.c. There were lots of efforts in "de-suckering" unix at the time... BAH Subtract a hundred and four for e-mail.
