Generally that's true if there is a replacement of requirements, though if a requirement is simply dropped those in the process can take advantage of the change (and use any credits elsewhere). In my case it didn't matter. The curriculum changes all involved a reduction in the number of semester-hours required (from 132 to 120 *), a reduction in the number of required courses, and an increase in the number of non-major and major technical electives. Those who took TAM, QM, and such, could still use them as non-major technical electives or non-technical electives. The PE requirement was simply dropped. I graduated under the new requirements even though they weren't official until my Junior year. I knew the changes were coming in my Freshman year and planned accordingly. * A decade earlier, when my brothers went through, the required semester hours required for graduation was in the upper 140s. Few were graduating in less than five years so it was deemed that the engineering school was over-loading students (it was supposed to be a four-year degree). The move to 120 hours (could have been 124, don't remember) was intended to bring the college of engineering into line with the other colleges. -- Keith
